Population health research in Mexico and beyond.

I use observational and genetic epidemiology to investigate the determinants of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases in the Mexican population.

I am an Intermediate Research Fellow at the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit at Oxford Population Health. I work with the Mexico City Prospective Study, leading research-capacity building in Mexico in collaboration with Mexico-based researchers.

Research

My work brings together large-scale prospective studies, genetic epidemiology, and biomarker research to understand how disease develops and affects health. I am particularly interested in cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic disease, and in generating evidence that is relevant to populations often under-represented in biomedical research.

Teaching and supervision

I co-lead the Non-Communicable Diseases module in the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology and contribute to teaching in Oxford’s undergraduate Medical School course. I also supervise postgraduate research students in Oxford and Mexico.
